Paper key, ultimate privacy

Online backup is very practical. But can it offer privacy? Can a doctor backup patient files online? Should you backup your digital life online? With these questions in mind we developed the Offline Private Key Protocol. The protocol requires that the private (decryption) key should be stored away from the ‘source’ computer. As a result, the private key needs to be fairly large to be secure: a 4096 bits RSA key should suffice for at least 30 years.

We love Omni

Omni is in our office. Damaged, but she (we believe our Omnibot 2000, spawned in 1984, is a she) can blink her eyes following a beat that she plays on her tapedeck. Did you know she can serve drinks?

Now she’s appeared in an ad by Guess. We love it. We love Omni.

MilkOrSugar at MCPC 2009 Helsinki

We presented MilkOrSugar.com to many at the biennial Mass Customization academic conference MCPC 2009 in Helsinki, this week.

Most of all, our preview of Next Level Shopping (launching October) got people excited. Think comparing sites and visually shopping across sites, before you go to customise.

Word has it we’ll be organising a local conference, MCPC 2010 Amsterdam, following similar local conferences at MIT and in Salzburg. More later.

Chameleon shoes

Will the outside of your shoes ever change color to follow your mood or environment? Of course, in, eeh, 2012. Black shoes will become green instantly, pulsating. Or you can let your shoe display a movie favorite. That will be 2014.

For PicNic09 we bought a pair of Adidas, hand painted one and projected on the other. To tell the story of MilkOrSugar.com. See more pictures here.
